First Alert Forecast: Drier conditions with lighter winds expected to persist through the weekend

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Trade winds will gradually diminish over the next several days, becoming light and variable by Friday. Hawaii Island will continue to see passing showers for windward areas, while drier conditions takeover the state. Light winds and mostly dry weather will continue on Saturday, but a weak cold front will bring a wind shift to the northwest and a chance of showers on Sunday. Northeasterly trade winds and mostly dry weather are expected early next week.
No significant swells are expected through Wednesday with slowly declining trade wind waves. A small NW swell is due on Thursday, a bigger below advisory level NW swell is due Sunday with a reinforcement arriving on Monday. A moderate NE swell is due Friday.
