On 6 June 1944, the Allies embarked on what was to become one of the most epic days in the long history of military warfare, D-Day – the invasion of Normandy. 144 Canadian Wing flew constant fighter sweeps throughout the Normandy Invasions, before relocating to France on June 15th 1944. THE SIGNATURES The print is personally signed by the artist, Richard Taylor, together with two Aces who flew Spitfires with the Canadian Wing during D-Day under the leadership of the highest scoring RAF Ace of WWII – Johnnie Johnson . Wing Commander “ STOCKY” EDWARDS DFC* DFM -16½ victories. Wing Commander JAMES LINDSAY DFC – 9 victories. Released in 2009 to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of D-Day, this stunning print depicts one of the most legendary Aces of the War, Johnnie Johnson.
